Hansa 575, Lefkas Marina - Lefkas - Greece
The Hanse 575 is built in Greifswald, Germany, to Germanischer Lloyd SE’s ocean-going classification standards. The GRP hull includes a balsa core and is hand laid using polyester epoxy for all inner laminates and Vinylester resins in all outer laminates to resist blistering, as well as an Isophthalic gelcoat.
All bulkheads are laminated to the hull and the deck, while a composite sub-frame adds structural rigidity. The keel is attached using a combination of stainless steel bolts and backing plates. Shoal- and deep-draft versions are available. The deck is balsa-cored and also hand laid with a Vinylester outer layer, and polyester for the majority of its laminate. |
Jeanneau 54DS - Gouvia Marina - Corfu - Greece
The 54 DS gives a big, multi-level cockpit where the working area aft is separated from the lounging areas forward. You get a big saloon, galley and navigation area, and cabin space.
The Jeanneau 54 DS looks good, it feels substantial, it is easy to sail and it is capable of many roles. It looks and feels like a minisuperyacht and carries as much marina cachet as would a custom yacht of the same size. We were asked to conduct a full Pre-Purchase survey and Sea trail ahead of purchase. |
Morgan 462 - Cleopatra Marina - Preveza - Greece
The Morgan 462 is a big, clunky, center cockpit ketch that, unlike the rest of the Morgan series, is fairly heavily built at 30,000 lbs. A weight-to-length ratio of 2:3.
The hull is a solid laminate while the deck is balsa cored. The chain plates are bolted to the hull sides rather than to plywood bulkheads that inevitably rot out from leaks, so this was not a problem. The rig is well setup and generally without fault. We were asked to conduct an insurance survey and rigging check for the current owners. |
GibSea 43 - Gouvia Marina - Corfu - Greece
The Gib'Sea 43 was designed by Olivier Poncin and J & J design, and shares the distinctive styling of several other models, including the Gib'Sea 33, 37, 41 & 51. These boats all share the "delphinière" - a dolphin nose shaped mini-bowsprit that continues the deck line outboard to house a self-stowing anchor.
The solid GRP hull is laid up with isophthalic resins and with Tawron aramid (kevlar) reinforcement, with a balsa sandwich deck and GRP inner mouldings. She has an iron bulbed keel and spade rudder. The Gib'Sea 43 is one of the beamiest monohulls of her length, and this gives a saloon which was described by 'Yachting Monthly' as ".... saloons don't come much bigger and brighter than this". |
Jeanneau Voyager 41. Lefkas Marina - Lefkada - Greece
Designed by Guy Ribadeau Dumas in the late 80s, the Jeanneau Voyager 41 was the big sister to the Voyager 37.
The Voyager 41 was a highly successful production vessel of the cruising class. With its aft cockpit this displacement cruising yacht with a fin and skeg had a sloop rig with alloy mast and boom. The auxiliary engine was a 45hp Perkins diesel, with shaft and single propeller. With a substantial internal matrix and moulded GRP finished in while gel coat. These 80s Jeanneau's are wonderful cruising yachts! |
Hanse 495, Cleopatra Marina - Preveza - Greece
This Hanse 495 was surveyed in Cleopatra Marina, Preveza. Greece. The 495s hull is solid hand-laid fiberglass below the waterline with balsa core in the topsides. The deck is also cored with balsa, while the hull is stiffened with a solid fiberglass grid.
Both the hull and deck are laminated with isophtalic gelcoat and vinyelseter resin to resist blistering, and the standard T-shaped deep-draft keel cast in iron. The overall construction quality of the 495 is very good. |
Moody 38, Margarona Marina - Preveza - Greece
Nauticat 33, Ionian Marina - Preveza - Greece
A Nauticat 33 surveyed for pre-purchase in Ionian Marina, Preveza. The 33 is a heavy displacement long-keel ketch with a fibreglass moulded superstructure, including a central wheelhouse. It also features safe, high bulwarks, an easily handled low aspect ratio rig and a powerful diesel engine driving a big three big bladed prop.
The design was updated in 1978 to include the new fibreglass moulded superstructure, which gives a more modern appearance and significantly reduced the maintenance requirements. Marvellous boats which are still in production, with almost 1,300 having been built in almost half a century. |
Jeanneau 36i, Ionian Marina - Preveza - Greece
Moody 36, Aktio Marina - Preveza - Greece
This Angus Primrose designed Moody 36 built by Marine Projects in Plymouth, with a distinctive centre-cockpit layout and wide-beamed hull design allow for ample accommodation with large forecabin with well-appointed heads compartment that separated from the saloon, and separate aft cabin.
These have proved themselves versatile, strong and reliable cruising sailing yachts over the years. |
Finnsailer 38, Aktio Marina - Preveza - Greece
A very large and comfortable, center-cockpit, 38-foot motorsailor from the Oy Fiskars AB yard, constructed to Lloyds specifications.
The beamy hull gives plenty of space down below, with the inner steering position in the semi enclosed wheelhouse in high coamings giving good shelter with all round visibility. These are solidly made, great cruising sailboats with a lot more space than most boats of comparable length. |
